GHOST STORIES
One night, my older sister, my friend and I went into the room to talk while having a snack. After my sister went downstairs, my friend and I started talking when suddenly we felt a chill that just took over our bodies. The room was dark and long and you can't see the end of the room without a flashlight. We started complaining about the cold air and when my friend just all of a sudden looked absolutley petrified. I looked in the direction in which she was looking in and saw a dark figure at the end of the hall. It had a pale face with greyish eyes and the rest of the body was just a dark shadow.
It started coming closer and we screamed and left the room. A few nights later my dad was in his office downstairs when he was home alone and he was at his desk when he felt someone run by him, after that he started hearing children laughing and some were crying. Then my older sister told me that she was sleeping when she was home alone when the lights went out and she saw the same shadowy figure my friend and I saw. We moved out of the house and we don't plan on coming back there anytime soon. Posted by K. Morin
p.s. Could that be part of the reason why it's always so damn cold in there? Tracy Rutty - owner The Old Lawson House Eatery & Pub Inc. Hagersville, Ont.
I photographed this picture is what my family and I believe to be my Grandfather, George Narin Ricketts(You can see it superimposed over the colt) He died a few years prior to this picture. I grew up very close to him, and always looked up to him. We lived in Vernon BC, my Grandpa was born there, and stayed there his entire life. Although he and Grandma made a point to travel all over the word. He was well respected, honest and always willing to help someone out. Everyone that knew him, loved him. I grew up with horses, he was responsible for my first when I was 5. A golden Shetland pony that had been passed through the family for quiet a few generations, "Sunny". He was old, but a good teacher for me. My grandfather was also always around to help me over come my obstacles, always being non judgemental and kind. He taught me about horses, and how if you earn their respect they will trust you, and you can become one. He also taught me to look around at the little things...that's were the miracles are. Teenagehood overcame me and horses became non important. Still I dreamed of them, but at the time there were other things that seemed more important. Grandpa and Grandma were also always there to bail me out of a jam, pick me up, set me straight and helping me with whatever I needed at the time.... always close by. Later I got married , had to beautiful Boys, moved to Ontario and bought a small ranch. Bought some horses!! and started to really feel at home. I knew the move was right for us but It was hard to be so far away from my family. I knew Grandpa would love this place and couldn't wait for him and Grandma to come visit. He was able to visit once before he was too sick to travel. He loved it here and was happy to see that I was following my dream, a dream that a little blonde horse crazy girl once told him about. After his passing, I began talking to him...like he was there.....just chatting about my day, or when I felt I needed his guidance. Things would seem easier when I felt that he was around me. I still miss him terribly. One of my Mares was in foal so I was spending a lot of time in the barn watching over her. I didn't want to miss anything! While by myself, I spoke out loud to my Grandpa a lot telling him how much I would love her to have a Creamello colt. How amazing that would be....although the chances would be slim because it is a very rare color, but I wanted one badly. Waiting...
On April 27th 2006 at around 11:00 pm a Cremello Colt was born!!! With crystal blue eyes, just like my Grandpa....AND Born on his Birthday! My husband and I were there to see him born. He took this picture as I was helping the delivery....not that help was needed....just I couldn't stay away from him. Hours later after my husband was able to convince me to come in from the barn, and that "Spirit" (which is what I had named him minutes after he was born), was going to be fine, and him and his proud new Mom needed some time together. I reluctantly came in to get some rest. Before so, we decided to download the pictures my husband had taken of the birth.
